About Us - Dovercraft Marine
Dovercraft Marine was established in 1977 by John VanHalteren. He started his career as a commercial diver servicing under water gas wells for gas and oil back in the late 1960s and 1970’s. John then switched into the boat building business and eventually developed an 80 slip marina on Black Creek in Port Dover, Ontario.
John VanHalteren Jr is now the owner/operator of Dovercraft Marine Ltd. He has grown up in the business by learning from his father . He has been operating the marina, sales and brokerage since 2001.

John grew up on Lake Erie and in the marine industry following in his father’s footsteps. He has been a familiar face at Dovercraft Marine for over two decades and became owner/operator in 2012 after managing the business for many years. John met Alicia as a teenager when she spent her weekends at the marina on her grandparents boat, they were married in Port Dover in 2015. Alicia has since become a welcomed part of the Dovercraft family when she isnt working full time as a Nurse. Together they have four amazing children, Alexis, Koen, Kasa and the late Taya. Avid boaters, lovers of travel and passionate about their business they look forward to serving everyone who comes to Dovercraft Marine.
